Fifteen

The youngest of the cousins turned 15 today. Her beauty and grace en captured by her sweetness. The world welcomed her today as who she is to become.

Then I remembered a small story.
She saw it in the display window. It was beautiful. The embroidery covered the white fabric with such precise measure. The silhouette this dress produced was that of royalty. She was fifteen and with a head full of dreams and a heart full of illusion. Her father was temporarily away, her mother worked arduous hours to uphold their household. Her birthday was to arrive, Her Quinceanera. Her mother took her into the closest shop where the dresses were covered in celebration. She knew of their financial means and went straight to the clearance rack. Her mother noticed her eyes brighten when she saw the white dress in the window. She knew that she could not fathom to even try it on. She found a sweet light blue gown, that needed hemmed for her stature but brought her joy. They went to the cash register, her heart with excitement. Then her mom graciously told the lady she wanted the dress in the window. It was unbelievable, she put it on and they said, it was like it was made for her. They took it home that afternoon. She tells that memory even today like a fairy tale, because it was. She was there the main character in a story. The world in her hands and her mother had granted her the biggest gift, her love and sacrifice. The hero of her story.

The story will soon repeat itself..
